Stingless bees were known in Malaysia because many traders started to familiarize themselves with this business. This is because stingless bees are highly demanded in either their nests or their honey. The word kelulut is used by indigenous Malaysia in reference to bee-hives of this type, which come from Malaysia’s tropical forests and jungles. There are (actually) 30 known species of stingless bees called’ Melipona’ in Malaysia.
Min House Camp is an accommodation which provides information on stingless bees, where honey can taste fresh from the hive. In Min House Camp there were four species:
Tetragonula Laeviceps
Lepidotrigona Terminata
Heterotrigona itama
Geniotrigona Thoracica
Most of us know how and what the honey looks like. The bee is an insect that has become known over the course of its history as a sign of powerful job ethics and superior management of time. In many cases it is synonymous with those of us that have hectic schedules, “I’m busy as a bee .”
Stingless bees ‘ honey isn’t what you’d expect. The taste is somewhat sour. The cause the honey has such an extraordinary flavour is that the bee hives ceilings are created of propolis (tree oil) rather than wax. Propolis is a mix between bee saliva and bee wax collected from the usual botanic sources: flowers, sap from trees, resin from plants etc.
Why not go by yourself to see and enjoy the honey at the Min House Camp also to know more about these insects. It is not far from the town and the hospital.
